Aniva Marine Station
At Cape Anastasia, just 60 kilometers from Hokkaido, we are building a modern field station dedicated to advancing marine science, education, and biotechnology.
Here, the warm Tsushima Current meets the cold waters of the Sea of Okhotsk, creating a rare natural environment where tropical and subarctic species can occur within the same marine area. This unique setting gives researchers access to one of the least studied ecosystems of the Russian Far East.
Aniva Biological Station is an interdisciplinary research platform in southern Sakhalin. We are creating an environment where field research, laboratory work, engineering approaches, digital data, and biotechnology come together to explore the natural systems of the Russian Far East.
Aniva is envisioned as a hub for researchers, students, partners, and technology teams — a place where knowledge about the natural world can evolve into educational programs, applied solutions, and new sustainable initiatives.
